As seen in FF2 you gained skill not lvls. Use a sword get points to lvl it up, same for hp get hit gain hp. Synthesize weapons like in Dark cloud. Use a weapon over time it gains points and the player can lvl up it changing the stats.
This is problematic due to the possibility to become TOO powerful way early in the storyline. Thus would create a problem in the dificulty of the harder end-game areas that are meant to be difficult for the experience of the game flow. Not a bad idea at all but for an MMORPG not likely to happen my friend.

horriblr i did not like ffx2's exp scheme i found it a dissapointment i love to just train endlessly. but ill give it a try because i love final fantasy
