The subject of male Mithras was often a disputed point amongst the Final Fantasy 11 community. People would question whereabouts the Mithras came from and why there were no male Mithras around. The only male Mithra seen at any point during Final Fantasy XI is the recently added Windurst missions to the Wings of the Goddess expansion.

Whether or not Square reveal the other half of the Mithra race in Final Fantasy 14 remains to be seen; with Mithras being so popular, though, it's quite possible they might consider it. In the Final Fantasy 14 Collage you can vaguely make out a Mithra that looks more male then female in the right side of the image. Whether this is a male Mithra, we can't be 100% sure, but it's food for thought none the less.

As a Mithra fan my entire Final Fantasy XI career, it'd be interesting to explore the alter half of this race; although within Final Fantasy XIV's environment, they won't be Mithra, neither will they have the Mithra's path. This leads me to believe that Square have no reason to expand on the Mithra race.

Seeing as to how the characters on XIV will be sort of "hybrids" i don't see why SE wouldn't cater to creating the male version of the species. They know people have been wanting "Mantras" but it didn't benefit them in any way possible to add them midway into the game. Personally, I would love to see the male mithras. It would save on alot of "are you a guy or a girl" questions.
