In addition to this, the development team have been eager to expand onto the links, or apparent lack of, in Eorzea and Vana'diel. The development team yesterday insisted that there would be no links between the two worlds and that they would be completely unrelated, despite the speculation surrounding the familiar characters in the Final Fantasy 14 Collage.

Eorzea is actually only a region of a bigger, wider world, that will be called Haiderin. As implicated by the trailer, Haiderin is a high technology society, though apparently not as much as pre-Sin in Final Fantasy X (Zanarkand before its destruction) and the worlds portrayed in Final Fantasy XIII.
