The
Final Fantasy XIV Trailer was released at the same time as the announcement of
Final Fantasy XIV was made. The teaser trailer contains seemingly breathtaking ingame graphics and demonstrates what's in store from Square Enix on the next generation console.

The gameplay graphics in the trailer were breathtaking.
The trailer contains several noticeable references; first of all, we can clearly see a Galka and a Mithra performing familiar actions from Final Fantasy XI. The Galka is seemingly using the Great Axe weapon skill "Steel Cyclone" and the Mithra appears to be casting Waterga III; this is speculation however, there are no official citations as of yet.
The graphics look incredible. The images of the open country look as stunning as Final Fantasy XI's landscapes, yet in Final Fantasy XIV the graphics are a thousand times better. The trailer pans around a large outdoor valley with plenty of foliage. This bares a heavy resemblance to that of Misareaux Coast and Lufaise Meadows from Final Fantasy XI.
And then there's the possibility that Final Fantasy XIV will be set in one of the continents not yet released to Final Fantasy XI; there are five such continents according to the Vana'diel world map, the far East and the homeland of the Mithra included. Only time will tell, I suppose!
