What the Collage Tells us
The
Final Fantasy XIV Collage that was added to the official site is a beautiful painting by
Kazuya Takahashi. It features a variety of characters and figures dressed in a variety of different clothing and armour.
Most notable about the collage is some of the character's likeness to the races of Final Fantasy XI. The collage features characters pertaining to the five races of Final Fantasy XI. Although previously thought to imply that Final Fantasy XIV would be a sequel to eleven, Hiromichi Tanaka,
Final Fantasy XIV Director, informs us that this is to provide players of Final Fantasy XI a familiar character to play with that they used and enjoyed on Final Fantasy XI.
"These are different races", Tanaka said, "a different world than FFXI, the name of the world is Eorzea."
On the subject of why they chose to use races that look like the Final Fantasy XI races, he added "The reason we made them similar in Final Fantasy XI was so that players who have been playing it and liked the character can choose a similar type of race."
The collage is stunning, make sure you view the
