At the 06.03.09 E3 2009 Press Conference, Square Enix Answered many Questions about Final Fantasy XIV and the future of Final Fantasy XI. One thing they were asked was whether they would offer the consumers, ie. Final Fantasy XI players, the oppurtunity to beta test the new development prior to its release.

Final Fantasy XI was beta tested prior to its debut release and for the release of the Xbox 360 port. Whether or not there will be similar beta testing for Final Fantasy XIV remains to be seen. At the 3rd June Press Conference, though, they were asked if they had given any thoughts to beta testing and whether Final Fantasy XI users would be able to use it.

"As with the actual release", Final Fantasy XIV Producer Hiromichi Tanaka said, "we don't have a concrete beta schedule yet.

"All we can say is that we will have a beta and when we do have a schedule, we will give that to you."

With the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV not even three days old, it's hardly surprising that there isn't even a beta planned yet, despite the fact that Development of Final Fantasy XIV has been going on for five years.
