Battle System

Battle System:
It has been confirmed that the Final Fantasy XIV Battle System will not follow the traditional experience based progression system. Instead, a completely new system is going to be used.
As outlined in our recent
What we Know about Final Fantasy XIV write up, the battle system and levelling system will differ to the previous Final Fantasy games and
MMORPGs altogether. Read on for information about the battle system, and visit our
Final Fantasy XIV Level Up System page for information and speculation on the levelling system.
Battle System
The battle system is currently unknown. The only focus that Square Enix have given us is that weapons will play a key part into the development of characters in combat situations. In our write up, we pointed out that fans were told to focus on the
Logo Artwork for the details on how the battle system will work.
The logo shows a large group of adventurers, all clearly with different types of weapons, in an orb. They're in a wheel formation, with their backs to each other, implying that trust is being placed in their comrades. Whatever this might mean for the battle system is unknown, but you can be sure further analysis will come in the near future. If you have any opinions on what the logo could mean, send them to our email:
admin@thefinalfantasy14.com.
The focus will be on weapons and the weapons used will allow the difficulty of combat to vary. In some situations, it'll be easier to fight with a specific weapon, but in other occasions, harder when using that same weapon. It seems that jobs will have a variation in combat skills depending on the weapon they're wielding, just like in Final Fantasy XI. The presumed broken link, however, is that the focus is on weapons in Final Fantasy XIV, and not the job you're playing like in eleven.
